Thinking about buying a refurbished Nokia 6310i?

The short version:

DON'T!

The long version:

I have personal experience or knowledge of all the main sellers on and off of ebay who sell refurbished Nokia 6310is, and these are the people who know what they are doing as opposed to the occasional seller who is even worse.

The great majority of refurbished 6310isfor sale consist of a 4 to 5 year old phone cobbled together with parts either from stolenor dead phones, Nokia 6210 phones (older poorer quality parts)or fake partsfrom China they are then cleaned up with spit and wrapped up in a fake Chinese housing which may last 2 months before the paint rubs off if you are lucky.

There are one or two sellers who take the time to use genuine housings but my description of the inside of the phone remains the same and the problem with genuine housings is that Nokia stopped making them mid 2007.This means they are hard to get hold of and expensive to buy so it is hardly cost effective to put them on a 69.99 refurb. The alternative sellers are turning to is a refurbished genuine housing, think about this it is a piece of plastic usually 4 or 5 years old the important clips that hold the phone together will be either missing or stressed to a point that they are ready to fail, then they are painted by a back street company who will never achieve the original Nokia finish. What you are left with is a poor quality housing that bears no resemblance to the original but allows the sellerto boast "genuine" housings- are they worth having?

I know the 6310i has a very large loyal following but that is exactly why the sellers make money selling very poor quality phones, if you take the time to search properly you will find genuine handsets that haven't had the above treatment and although they may have a mark or two they will last for years to come which is what we have all come to expect from the amazing 6310i.It is a real shame that the reputation of this amazing phone is being damaged by unscrupulous sellers.

Conclusion:

DON'T! Buy a genuine handset and do yourself and the reputation of the 6310i a favour.

PLEASE REMEMBER TO GIVE A"YES" RATING AS THE SELLERS TALKED ABOUT ABOVE ARE ALL GIVING A "NO" RATING FOR OBVIOUS REASONS - DON'T LET THE DODGY SELLERS WIN. IF YOU EMAIL ME I WILL PROVIDE A CURRENT LIST OF SELLERS TO AVOID.
