You could have cash on delivery, if I was going to deliver, then that is the way I would go.

I am selling something a bit too heavy, complicated and delicate to deliver by courier, and have opted to deliver it personally to the buyer. The problem is I have to drive 200 miles to deliver it and i can't think of how I will prove to paypal that I delivered the item if any problems arise.

Without using a courier there won't be a tracking number. Does anyone know if there's a certain way to do this which will allow me to prove to paypal that I did deliver the item the seller should he claim otherwise?

You can't satisfy PayPal's requirements.

The best you can hope for, is to see if they'll agree to pay cash on delivery.

The problem with that is some people may be uncomfortable having that sort of money in the house, or may wish to pay by credit card if they don't have the cash right now.

There are some things you can do to help protect yourself. Verify the buyer's name and address though the phone book, or online lookup services. Ask for proof of address - a utility or credit card bill, for example.

Most collection sales pass off without a hitch - we just get to hear about the very occasional scammy ones, but it's wise to think about protecting yourself.
